Portraits of Sicily
For those of you who don’t know me personally, my photography is an ongoing journey from abject grief to relearning how to live a tolerable and frequently wonderful life. Sicily was one of those places that made me feel very alive again. From the friendly and open people to the varying architecture (Ancient Greek and Roman, Islamic, Byzantine and Baroque, to name a few) to the intentional and unintentional street art, Sicily gave me everything that I was looking for photographically.
Of particular interest were the outdoor religious statues which appeared in the most unlikely places. The hanging laundry everywhere never failed to please me. And the nights were just as interesting as the days which made for many 12-hour, 10+ mile walking days.
